About My Little Pony: Generation 3

My Little Pony is a franchise developed by Hasbro. Generation 3, or G3, saw the revival of the toyline in 2003. The concept of G3 ran roughly 7 years until 2010, where Generation 4 took its place.

G3 had a character revamp in 2008, which reduced the main cast down to a Core 7: Pinkie Pie, Scootaloo, Toola-Roola, Rainbow Dash, Sweetie Belle, Cheerilee and Starsong (see: Core 7). It later had a style revamp in late 2009 that many consider being its own generation, dubbed G3.5, New Look G3, or joined with the 2008 revamp, "Core 7". Although the style of G3.5 marked the end of G3 style ponies, a few more G3 style ponies were made in 2010 for special occasions. The Newborn Cuties restyle era followed this, though wasn't as successful.
