Kimono is a wise earth pony character and toy from the G3 franchise. Her toy debut came in 2003 as one of the Glitter Celebration Ponies, part of the Summer release. In the same year, she was sold as a pack with an additional A Charming Birthday VHS and charm bracelet. She was released two more times; once in 2004 and once in 2005. She is voiced by Kathleen Barr.

About[]

Kimono is a lilac pony with deep purple hair. Two of her toy releases have iridescent tinsel in the hair. Her eyes are green, and her hoof heart is yellow. Her cutie mark is two yellow Japanese-style paper lanterns with white flower designs.

"This is Kimono, the wisest pony in the land. Kimono is the keeper of all precious pony legend and lore. She is, of course, very smart, and up until now, very hard to surprise. ... Yes, yes, yes, it was a charming—and big—birthday after all!" - Razzaroo's description of Kimono in A Charming Birthday.

KIMONO is always very busy, but she's never in a hurry. She takes time to enjoy every minute of every special day, having fun with all her friends! - Kimono's backcard story from the back of her toy's box.

Media[]

Her only appearance is partway through A Charming Birthday where she is asked for advice from Minty, who is trying to avoid giving away the gift for her. However, the movie is centered around her as the ponies are trying to do the one thing they hadn't been able to do before; surprise her, as Kimono had proven to be too smart for them in the past. Kimono is able to provide the advice Minty needs and is finally surprised with a new charm bracelet at her birthday party. She gladly accepts it as a very very special charm bracelet and promises to cherish it and their friendship forever.

In the 2003 book A Pony's Tale, Kimono is shown as receiving a crew role in the Pony Play, but her exact role is unclear, and she only appears in three illustrations.

In the 2004 book Five Friends, Kimono is the second pony to split from the group. She is later revealed to have gone to a forest pool.

Kimono has a very minor role in the 2007 book Ponies on Ice where she puts on a hat and practices figure eights.
